Support for adopted young people

Therapies and specialist assessments

When therapy is needed this can include talking therapies where a therapist and you explore your life now, before you lived in your family and any future plans, hopes and fears you may have. Other times talking is too difficult and young people prefer a creative therapy which allows them to express their difficult and often painful feelings through activities or play. Sometimes it is not clear what would be helpful so we arrange for a further assessment that can look at different areas of challenge for the young person and then come up with a plan that we can work with. Our adoption social workers will help you and your parents put this in place.
