This week marks the eighth birthday of Adoption Central England
Adoption Central England (ACE) is the regional adoption agency serving Warwickshire, Coventry, Solihull, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
To mark the anniversary of the formation of our regional service we would love to share and celebrate some of the highlights of our journey.
- In 2019 our first young people's groups were set up.
- In 2020 we were extremely proud to become the first adoption agency in the world to become DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) accredited.
- In 2021 our Clinical Psychology Service was introduced.
- In 2023 an Ofsted thematic inspection of Regional Adoption Agencies celebrated our DDP ethos and adoption support offer.
- In 2025 we were awarded the Early Permanence Quality Kitemark and introduced the AfDIT model and Ofsted inspections of Warwickshire and Solihull acknowledged the service provided by ACE.
Since 2018 ACE's adoption Panel has considered a total of 642 Approvals and an incredible 739 Matches between children and their prospective adopters.
On average since ACE formed, each year we have supported 553 families allocated to staff in order to receive an adoption support service including making an astonishing 3647 applications to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund to the value of £10,204,751.83, utilising the fund to provide therapeutic intervention for adopted children and their families.
Furthermore since 2020 we have had on average 142 applications for birth records counselling each year and 335 birth families receiving support from our Family Connexions team.
176 children have been placed under fostering for adoption arrangements, minimising the number of placement moves and losses they have had to endure.
It has been a privilege to be a part of so many individuals and families' adoption journeys.
Adoption is about offering love, support and a lifelong commitment to children of all ages who cannot remain within their birth families for a variety of reasons.
