Therapeutic and sensory based parenting programme - Training

This course covers therapeutic parenting at an enhanced level. It focusses on DDP and PACE principles that enable adoptive parents' to become more attuned to their child’s needs looking beyond the presenting behaviours.

The course aims to increase adoptive parents' understanding and responses to the child’s sensory needs.

9.30am to 12.30pm

This programme comprises of six weekly group sessions, each of which are three hours in duration, followed by two 1:1 sessions to be arranged individually.

Following this there are ongoing monthly embedding sessions for those who are able to attend.

Places on this programme are usually funded via an application to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund.

An assessment of need will need to be completed by an ACE social worker prior to the course.
